The coastal city of Barcelona, Spain, has begun a project aimed to increase their metro system’s size by one third. At the cost of €6.5 billion, the city will get 52 new stations, 20 of which will connect with other lines. This project is expected to attract 350,000 riders daily.

One phase of this project was the lengthening of the L5 line to 48km, which required the construction of several new metro stations. Three Spanish companies were active participants in the decoration of the stations with nickel-containing stainless steel.
