Modern Carburized Nickel Alloy Steel (11005)

The high-carbon surface layer interacts with the low-carbon core during subsequent heat treatment to provide desirable residual compressive stresses in the surface layer to resist imposed loads in service. Data are provided on the properties of carburized nickel alloy steels. And processing techniques to improve productivity are suggested to aid the materials engineer in selecting steel grades and processing sequences to meet stringent design and service requirements.
